My grandmother was originally from Mississippi, and had the most unique quotations and stories. Along with telling me about how they used to make chewing gum from “stretchberries”, she spoke of how one of her brothers died of “slippery shoes” (he worked on the train trestle and had new shoes on, slipped and broke his neck), or the brother that died of consumption because he ate watermelon too close to the rind. (!!)

She was beyond colorful & wonderful, and I miss her terribly.
